Multiple charts, linking and saved layouts

Watching several markets or timeframes side by side is often clearer than flipping between them. AlertaChart has 49 layouts, from two charts next to each other to a grid of 16.

Choosing a layout

Press the layout button at the top of the chart and pick a grid. Layouts are grouped by the number of charts. How many charts you can show at once depends on your plan: 1 on Free, 2 on Starter, 4 on Trader, 8 on Pro and 16 on Elite.

Working with several charts

Click a chart to make it active; the symbol search, timeframe and indicator buttons then apply to that chart. Each chart keeps its own symbol, timeframe, chart type and indicators.

Linking charts

Linking keeps charts moving together; turn each kind on under Sync in layout, in the layout menu:

• Symbol: change the symbol on one chart and the others follow
• Timeframe: the same for timeframes
• Crosshair: moving over one chart shows the same moment on the others
• Drawings: charts with the same symbol share their drawings
• Time: scrolling or zooming one chart moves the others to the same dates
• Date range: a range picked on one chart (1D, 1M …) is shown on all of them

This is ideal for a top-down view, for example the same coin on weekly, daily, 4-hour and 1-hour charts with the crosshair linked.

Saved layouts (Trader and higher)

A saved layout remembers your whole screen: the grid, each chart's symbol, timeframe, chart type and indicators with their settings, the time zone and linking.

• Open the menu with the arrow next to the layout name at the top: Save layout, Autosave, Make a copy, Rename, Download chart data, Create new layout, your recently used layouts and Open layout (or press .).
• Share layout, in the same menu, gives the layout a link. Whoever opens it sees your charts and drawings as last saved and can save a copy to their own layouts without changing theirs; Copy link copies it, and turning the switch off closes the link.
• Delete layout, in the same menu, deletes the open layout; in Open layout every layout has its own bin.
• Switch to another saved layout at any time; it opens straight away, without reloading the page.
• Press Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on Mac) to save quickly.
• The name of the active layout is shown at the top. Changes are kept in it when you save; until then Save appears under the name, and clicking it saves. With Autosave on, changes are saved as you go. Opening the layout again brings back its saved version, and switching to another one asks whether to save them first.

Saved layouts follow your account, so the same set-ups are waiting on your other computer. A layout saved before each chart kept its own indicators opens with the same indicators on every chart: set them again on each chart and save the layout.
