Indicators: adding, adjusting and the Pro set

Indicators turn price and volume into lines, bands and zones that are easier to read. AlertaChart comes with a standard set for everyone, a larger Pro set, and your own AlertaScript indicators.

Adding an indicator

Press the Indicators button at the top of the chart. Search by name or browse the categories: Favourites, SMC and advanced, Standard, Premium, Moving averages and My scripts. Click a name to add it; star it to find it faster next time.

The standard set (every plan)

RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands, Stochastic, Parabolic SAR, ATR, CCI and exponential and simple moving averages (50, 100 and 200).

Adjusting an indicator

Every indicator has a row at the top left of the chart (or of its panel) with its name and values. Hover the row to see four controls:

• The eye hides and shows it without removing it.
• The gear opens its settings: periods and sources, colours, line widths and styles. "Reset" returns it to the defaults.
• The cross removes it.

Values in the row follow your cursor, so you can read any past bar.

Panels

Oscillators such as RSI, MACD and Stochastic open in their own panel under the price chart. Drag the border between panels to resize them. Each panel has its own scale and you can draw on it.

Indicators on indicators (Pro)

Press + next to the name of an indicator panel such as RSI, MACD, CVD or open interest. The Indicators window opens for that line: the indicators that can use it as their source are marked with an arrow (moving averages, Bollinger Bands, RSI, CCI and MACD), and the ones that need candles are greyed out. The new line is drawn in the same panel. Click its label to change its type, length, colour or width, or to remove it.

Indicator templates and scales

Press Templates at the top of the Indicators window to save the indicators on a chart, with their settings, under a name, and to apply them to any other chart in one click. Applying a template replaces the chart's indicators. The ⋯ menu on a line indicator's row pins it to the right scale, the left scale or no scale, so an indicator far from the price no longer squeezes the candles.

How many at once

The number of indicators per chart depends on your plan: 2 on Free, 5 on Starter, 10 on Trader, 25 on Pro and 50 on Elite.

Pro and Elite unlock AlertaChart's own indicators, including:

Auto Analysis (Pro)

Auto Analysis reads the candles on your screen and draws support and resistance zones, Fibonacci levels and a volume profile for you — a quick second opinion before you draw your own.

Automatic chart patterns (Pro)

This indicator spots classic formations such as triangles, wedges and head and shoulders as they form.

Your own indicators

With AlertaScript (Trader and higher plans) you can write your own indicators or install ones shared by the community. They appear under My scripts.
