Market Summary and macro indicators

The Market Summary is your morning page: a quick look at the whole market before you open a single chart. It is on the Home tab of the mobile app and on the home page of the website, and it is free.

What you will find

Macro indicators

The macro section follows the US economic data that moves every market:

• Inflation: CPI, core CPI, the PCE price index and core PCE
• Jobs: nonfarm payrolls, initial jobless claims and the participation rate
• Growth: nominal and real GDP and the GDPNow estimate
• Housing: housing starts, building permits, the home price index and 30-year mortgage rates
• Activity: industrial production, capacity utilisation, retail sales, consumer spending and consumer sentiment
• Liquidity: the Fed's net liquidity and its balance sheet
• Yield curves: 10-year minus 2-year and 10-year minus 3-month

Each indicator shows its latest value and change, and opens as a chart so you can see its history.

The Fed

The Fed section shows the current interest-rate range, the date of the next meeting and where the Fed's own projections put rates at the end of the year. After a decision, the new range appears on the same day.

Economic calendar

Each indicator also shows when the next figure is due, so you know which days may bring sharp moves.
