Bar Replay: practise on past markets
Bar Replay rewinds the chart to a moment in the past and hides everything after it. You then move forward one bar at a time, or let it play, and make your decisions without seeing the future. It is available from the Starter plan.
Starting a replay
- Press the Replay button at the top of the chart.
- Click the bar where you want to start. Everything to the right of it disappears.
- Use the controls to step forward one bar, play and pause, and change the speed.
Practising with it
- Mark your entry, stop and target with the long and short position tools as if you were trading live.
- Set alerts and see whether they would have fired.
- Change the timeframe during a replay to look at the bigger picture.
Ending the replay
Press the Replay button again, or close the controls, to return to the live chart.
History available
How far back you can go depends on your plan's history depth: 10,000 bars on Starter and Trader, 20,000 on Pro and 40,000 on Elite.
Why it helps
Looking at a finished chart makes every move look obvious. Replay removes that hindsight, which makes it one of the best ways to test a strategy and build confidence before risking money. Combine it with Alerta Practice to trade the idea with a virtual balance.
