Sakata Seed Corp. engages in the production and sale of seeds, bulbs, gardening materials and agricultural products. It operates through the following segments: Domestic Wholesale Business, Overseas Wholesale Business, Retail Business. The Domestic Wholesale Business segment deals with the procurement, production, and sale of vegetable seeds, flower seeds, bulbs, seedlings, and horticultural products in the local wholesale markets. The Overseas Wholesale Business segment operates overseas subsidiaries which are involved in the wholesale of seeds, seedlings, bulbs, and horticultural materials. The Retail segment deals with products targeted at general gardening enthusiasts, sells them to home improvement centers, and also conducts mail order sales. The company was founded by Takeo Sakata in July 1913 and is headquartered in Yokohama, Japan.
